mama’s boy

for the past week or two, i have been practicing my new favorite word. mama. mama. mama. that’s what i say all day long. mama. when i say it to daddy, he responds “da da”. when i say it to mommy, she responds, “yes, baby?” it warms her heart.
and just when mommy thought she couldn’t love me more, guess what else i have been doing for the past week. i have been… SLEEPING… say it with me… THROUGH… THE… NIGHT!!! i didn’t mention it sooner because i didn’t want to jinx myself, but yup, i’m finally sleeping through the night (~8:30pm to ~7:00am).
it started last week when mommy came home from dallas. at first, she thought that she was just so tired that she just didn’t hear me when i woke up. but after a week, i think it’s official
mommy is so happy that she almost doesn’t mind that i am starting to move on from mama to dada. (i’m actually trying to say “koda”, but don’t tell daddy that!)

Go dude! No wonder your mom agreed to go bike riding with my mom at 9 am! Mommy thought your mom would be sleeping! Hmm…did your daddy do something to you while mommy was gone? Oh! I thought of another reason you’re your mom’s son – you both hate wearing shoes!

hey logan, daddy is the sleep master, but he didn’t do anything to me this time. i just got tired of mommy telling me that she wished i would learn from you and sleep through the night. how embarrassing to have to “learn” something from a kid who is half your age.
and about the shoes… you have no idea. shoes are like straitjackets for your feet!

hi auntie viki! i have a GREAT idea. if you move back to california, isaac will sleep ’til 8am! oh wait, did i get that backwards?
seriously though… i used to wake up around 6am, and that made mommy and daddy grouchy cuz they’re not early birds like i am. so they gradually shifted my bedtime an hour later, and now i sleep til around 7am. that’s still earlier than mommy and daddy want to wake up, but it’s definitely an improvement

A father told me a couple of weekends ago that ALL babies start with “dada” and “mama” comes soon after. I’m glad you’re going around debunking falsehoods, Kyden! Thank you!
